The best of the best restaurants in Nazare

All Things Nazaré’s top restaurant picks...the places we think are the best of the best.

There are loads of great restaurants here, and one of the things I love is the variety.

Want traditional Portuguese food? Easy...fresh fish and seafood straight from the Atlantic? You’re definitely in the right place.

Italian...steak...burgers...pizza...petiscos...a bottle of wine with dinner...or a cold Super Bock sitting outside somewhere watching the world go by? Yep...we’ve got that too.

Top 5 fresh fish, shellfish and traditional Nazaré cooking

1. O Casalinho - Best for a proper seafood feast and anyone who really loves shellfish

This is the place I’d choose for lobster, crab, clams, oysters, percebes, tiger prawns and one of those big seafood boats made for sharing. They also serve seafood caldeirada, cataplanas, octopus and fresh grilled fish.

2. Taberna d’Adélia - Best for traditional Nazaré cooking

Taberna d’Adélia is family-run restaurant serves the type of dishes connected to Nazaré’s fishing families: caldeirada, massada de peixe, seafood rice, fried little fish and simply prepared fresh catch. It is also included in the Michelin Guide, which recommends its seafood cooking and oven-roasted fish.

3. A Tasquinha — Best for The all-around fish and seafood experience

A small, busy family restaurant known for seafood rice, squid, sea bass, prawns, fish stew and grilled seafood. It has remained one of Nazaré’s most consistently well-reviewed seafood restaurants, but it gets crowded during the summer.

4. Rosa dos Ventos — Best for Fresh fish grilled simply

This feels like a proper fisherman’s restaurant. The family describes it as a taberna de peixe, serving some of the freshest grilled fish in the area in a small room decorated with old family fishing equipment.

One thing to remember: Rosa dos Ventos has traditionally been cash only, so I’d carry cash rather than depend on a card.

5. Sítio dos Petiscos — Best seafood choice in Sítio

A smaller, relaxed restaurant near the Sanctuary and viewpoint. Seafood is one of its specialties, particularly seafood rice, fish stews, grilled sea bass, squid, monkfish and cataplana. Reviews consistently mention good value and friendly service.

just say'in...

Nazaré may be famous for the beach, the fishing traditions and those monster waves...but this town knows how to eat too.

Bonta Bistro Italiano - Best Italian Restaurant

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Nazare specializing in handmade fresh pasta made by "Bonta e Sapori"...start with a fresh Caprese as an appetizer and end the meal with a Cherry Suprise, a fresh Amarena Fabbri ice cream dessert with black cherries in a chocolate biscuit basket...unbelievable!

Roberto and family are not only the most gracious hosts but simply wonderful people...so glad they're here serving the best authentic handmade pasta from italy.

Good to know - make sure to call or text on whatsapp to make a reservation...it's a busy place.

Tabernassa - Best Steak House

Simply the best restaurant for Steak although they do provide a menu of main courses to include Grilled Salmon, Octopus (Traditional style) and grilled Iberian Lizard (Iberian Pork Cut) to list a few none meat dishes.

End the meal with a Carmel Cheesecake dessert...I guarantee you will not be disappointed. You will need a reservation. If you don't make be prepared to wait.
